Without construction, the world would look completely different. There would be no offices, houses, restaurants, or schools. Fortunately, there were 8.7 million Americans working in construction as of 2010, according to the National Association of Home Builders. Construction workers build residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, and they need heavy construction equipment to get the job done.

Excavators

Excavators are pieces of equipment that can be set on wheels or tracks. They have a long bucket arm attached and a pivoting cab that can rotate a whole 360 degrees. The person operating the excavator sits in the cab where they have the most visibility of the site. Most often, excavators are used to dig up dirt or lift heavy pieces like pipes or other smaller equipment.

Bulldozers

Bulldozers are what most people think of when they think of construction heavy equipment because it is the machine found at most construction sites. It is very heavy and strong. It can be used to move large amounts of dirt across even larger areas. They have very wide tracks that allow them to move over uneven terrain and flat blades in the front to push piles of dirt for rough or fine grading.

Dump Trucks

Dump trucks are also very common on construction sites. They are needed for almost every job. There are multiple sizes and variation to move any load easily and effectively. Dump trucks can be either off-road or standard. Off-road trucks are used only for mining and heavy dirt-hauling jobs.

Backhoe Loaders

Backhoe loaders are similar to tractors, but they contain an adjustable shovel in front of the equipment and a small bucket in the back of the loader for digging. They are considered medium sized construction equipment. They are normally used for smaller jobs and have a more limited space to perform operations. They are used to move dirt, backfill, dig trenches, and place smaller pipes into place.

Depending on the job, most construction equipment can be used in many different ways in order to help you achieve your goals and finish your projects as scheduled. If you are looking for construction equipment for sale, check out our inventory and give us a call today.
